What is nutritional testing in relation to applied kinesiology? Kinesiology works on the theory that various stimuli cause muscles to react differently. Nutrition is an integral requirement for a healthy body. Kinesiologist use food samples to test for allergens or other adverse reactions in the muscle structure. The patient takes a specific food sample as part of the food intolerance test. The practitioner then starts testing muscle responses to see if that food caused an adverse reaction. Allergy elimination should improve muscle response as well as overall body health.
What is educational kinesiology? Scientific studies show that movement is a good way to improve learning skills. For children experiencing learning difficulties, the theory is that improving their movement functions can help overcome the difficulties. This theory developed in the 1970s through the efforts of learning disability specialist, Paul E. Dennison, PhD. Dennison developed specific exercises and techniques to enhance the learning comprehension. They emphasize three functions: laterality, focus, and centring. Each one helps with specific learning difficulties. The practice of this form of applied kinesiology apparently improves a wide array of skills in both children and adults including movement, learning, memory, expression, and vision.
Who would be a good candidate to try applied kinesiology? A growing number of people are trying to find healing practices outside of mainstream medicine. They know that mainstream medicine can treat many problems. But, it has one large problem of its own. The focus of mainstream medicine is on symptoms and specific parts of the body. It is very rare for mainstream doctors to practice holistic medicine. If you want a holistic approach to your body, then this form of kinesiology may be for you. It involves completely non-invasive tests which help identify underlying problems. And the kinesiologist can help remedy many of those issues.
