Nature Provides What Is Needed to Keep Both Ourselves and Our Pets Healthy

at 8:00 AM

We are constantly bombarded with advertisements trying to sell us things that we probably don't really need. Especially with so many strategies that companies use to entice us to buy their products, such as freebies/giveaways, competitions, bargains (buy one, get one free), and try before you buy tactics. With so many personal care products available on the market and their glamorous marketing, no wonder we don't really stop to think what is in these products and whether they are actually good for us. How many people do you know who are well aware of what kind of synthetic chemicals or toxins they are exposing themselves to every time they apply a cream or perhaps deodorant? There are plenty of people who would buy a product simply because it looks, feels, and smells good, not whether it's good for you or not.

Our skin is the body's largest organ. Do you know that over sixty percent of what we put on our skin is absorbed and goes directly to the bloodstream? If we are applying creams or lotions that contain ingredients that are known to be toxic, then our skin will absorb these toxins and accumulate in our body. They can be stored in places such as the bone, fat, and liver. These toxins may even stay there for many years.

Toxic chemicals can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) conducted a study in 2004 on the umbilical cord blood from 10 babies born in August and September in US hospitals and discovered an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants. This toxic burden on newborns is quite disturbing. It is evidence that we really should watch what we are putting on our skin and overlook those fancy marketing that companies use to lure us into buying their products.

To protect ourselves from these toxic chemicals:
Learn to read the ingredients list - It is important to know what you are putting on yourselfUse products that are 100% naturalUse products that are certified organic - Look for a certifiers logo to guarantee that these products are genuinely organic.

Incorporating certified organic personal care products into your lifestyle is highly recommended. I know that it is difficult to make that switch from conventional products to good quality organic products. But if you think about it, paying a bit more for organic products would be more beneficial to you in the long haul rather than having potential expensive bills later on to fix any health issues that might have been caused by regular use of products that contained harmful chemicals.

Some of the benefits of using organic products over conventional ones include:

1) Ingredients in organic products are very high quality

Organic products are free from harmful synthetic chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, herbicides or other contaminants. They are made predominantly of herbs, plants, flowers, essential oils. All natural ingredients! They are also known to contain more vitamin, nutrients, and cancer-fighting antioxidants compared to non-organic products.

2) Good for the environment

Organic products rely on the environment for their ingredients, therefore, respecting the environment. Companies that make organic products also consider other ways to be environmentally friendly. This may include reducing carbon emissions by using recyclable packaging and renewable energy like wind and solar power to replace fossil fuel energy.

3) Not tested on animals

Organic products benefit animals and their natural habitats. Animals are never used for the testing of organic products. Some organic products may contain animal products, such as glycerin, but many companies have incorporated vegetable glycerin as an alternative.

4) Absolutely no genetically modified organisms (GMOs)

Organic systems prohibit the use of any GMOs in organic food and farming

So, if you want to live a healthier life, start using organic products now. It is definitely worth it! For more ideas on how to live a healthier lifestyle, please visit my blog http://teresa-healthylifestyle.blogspot.com
